Beaver Dragons and Gaggle Pups

Wild Man has a very vivid imagination. We love it, most times, because it keeps us laughing. One thing he loves to do is make up words or names. Two of his latest inventions are "Beaver Dragon" and "Gaggle Pup". Both are types of animals. I asked him to draw both of them for me, but they would not scan well. However, they are a mix of a lot of things.

Here is what I know now about both...

Beaver Dragons live in the trees along I-20. I am assuming that is the only place, because that is the only time Wild Man has seen them. Sometimes, if there is water they like to swim and when they can, they love to fly. They are yellow, blue, pink, red, and green. They like to eat berries, dragon berries, and sometimes their own poop (this straight from Wild Man - I guess it is a boy thing). They like to keep dogs (but not bulldogs) for pets and they love to garden.

Gaggle Pups are baby beaver dragons. They are little, black, spider-webby looking creatures. Wild Man said they just lay around in their boxers all the time. They like to eat nails, berries, and carrots. They have turtles and cats as pets and they really don't do anything.

Wild Man says he is the only person the Beaver Dragons and Gaggle Pups like, so if you see one, I would stay away or call Wild Man. They sound scary to me.

The Porch

On April 4th my parent's house was hit by a small tornado. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it did cause some minor damage to the house. After they assessed the damage, they told Prof what needed done, and asked him if he could do the work. Of course, being the awesome guy that he is, he stepped up to the challenge. One area of the house that needed to most work was the patio area. The tree that fell took out the covered patio area mom and dad had. So, Prof decided to replace the covered patio with a screened in porch. After several weekend trips and one really long week, Prof has finally almost finished the screened in porch. Here are some shots of what it looks like. Please keep in mind, there is still some minor work left to be done and lots of clean up. So, don't look too closely (that was for BB - who I am sure is real happy I am putting these pictures up).

The Wii

So, those of you have Facebook and check it regularly know that we now have a Wii. Yes, that is right...Prof and I gave each other a Wii for our Anniversary present. I actually got an amazing deal on Ebay. This guy invested $500 into a Wii and extra stuff for his Wii, played it only 20 times, and then sold it on Ebay to me for $265 + shipping. There was only one game we didn't want, and we just sold it on Half.com today. Anyway, needless to say, I am not sure what we did before the Wii. I can not even begin to tell you how much fun it is! Even Wild Man gets into. In fact, the Wii helps Wild Man make good decisions, because he knows if he chooses to disobey then he can't play the Wii and if he chooses to obey, then he can play.

One of the first games Wild Man played was Ski ball (the game you find at Chuck E Cheese or places like that). He is actually pretty good, but he get WAY INTO IT. Here is a small clip of Wild Man playing Ski ball (and yes, he is still in his pjs - one of the perks of staying home).

Just Some Pictures

We have collected some fun pictures over the past few weeks we would like to share. Enjoy!!

Look at this picture and imagine Princess T reaching the top bunk, by herself....and, yes she really did it. One night last week Prof walked in, because she was crying, and she was on the top bunk. When he asked Wild Man how she got up there, he pointed to the tub that was propped up between the bed and futon. SCARY!!!

Wild Man has become quite the builder...this is one of his master pieces. I wish he would just build us a house....it would make things a lot easier...don't you think? Well, except maybe he could fill in the whole about the windows...

Princess T's first toenail painting. Believe it or not she set so still while I painted them and she picked the color (sorry the picture is fuzzy).

I Am So Proud!!

Typically I use the blog to talk about me or my kids. However, I just have this overwhelming desire to talk about how proud I am of Prof. As many of you know Sunday was not only Mother's Day, but it marked 6 years of Prof and I being married (hard to believe...I know!). I love him more today then I did the day I married him. God has really done some big things in our lives over the past 6 years and has blessed our marriage and life together more than I could have ever asked for.

I have to tell you that (despite what you think) I have the best husband in the whole world!! I mean, don't get me wrong, he is not perfect....but he is as close as they come! There is nothing he can not do or can not teach himself to do. He truly is amazing.

In the 6 years we have been married, Prof has been in school 5.5 of those years. He completed a 90 hour master's degree in 2.5 years, while working full time, and being the best dad there ever to Wild Man. After completing this amazing task he moved on to another task that seems almost impossible. He began his PhD. He has now (in 2.5 years) completed all course work for the PhD, while working full time, being the best husband ever, and being the best dad ever to Wild Man AND Princess T. On top of this....he is finishing his classes with a 4.0 overall GPA! He not only passed his barrier exam (an exam proving his competency in statistics), but he made an A+ (99%), which I might add was the highest grade in the class!!! He is so amazing!!

Neither one of us knows what the next step is after he completes his PhD, but I am excited to see how God is going to use all of Prof's gifts for HIS Glory!!

Silence is Golden

When I was growing up I went through this stage where I listened to nothing but Oldies. I am sure BB remembers this stage quite vividly. I had this one tape that had a mixture of artists on it and I listened to that tape so much that still to this day I can remember most of the words and a few of the motions I made up to go with them. (Yes, I made up motions to every song). Anyway, there was this one song that has been in my head for about a week now, and I can not get it to go away. I can not remember who sings it or even all the words. All I remember is , "Silence is golden, golden. Ohhh, but my heart..." (I can't remember any more words-sorry).

Why am I telling you all this? Well, I think I am at the point where this song (or at least the words I can remember) are so true. Ever since I can remember, I hated the quietness (which is why I am sure I listened to music so much). I hated being the only one home and when I went to college I hated being the only one in the dorm (which is why I went home so much). Truthfully, I hated having nothing to do. I wanted to be doing something all the time. I hated silence.

However, 1 husband and 2 kids (who both talk all the time now) later, I am on my way to believing silence is golden. I would do just about anything to have a day where there was nothing on the calendar, no phone, no tv (ok maybe a little tv), no talking...you get the picture.

I am not there completely though because after about a day, I would want the noise back. I am definitely 100% BB's daughter.
